Your Hostel, Your Legacy
IIT Delhi is embarking on a significant initiative to address the critical accommodation shortage on campus by rebuilding five of its old boys' hostels: Aravali, Jwalamukhi, Karakoram, Kumaon, and Nilgiri. With construction slated to begin in 2026, this project aims to expand and enhance the residential infrastructure, currently accommodating around 7,000 of the 12,000+ enrolled students.

The Institute, with the help of Alumni, Corporates and Philanthropists plans to raise approx~Rs.500 crores, (~USD 62 MN) for this ambitious and much needed hostel complex over the next 4 years. This Projects marks a paradigm shift in terms of how the institute will evolve in the years to come - a far closer interaction between alumni, current students, and institute authorities. Named spaces are an opportunity to not only support the experience of students and faculty at IIT Delhi by creating places to learn, teach, and gather, but also to honor an individual, family member, friend, or organization. Physical space naming opportunities on campus range from single rooms to entire buildings to outdoor courtyards.
This ambitious project is not just about building infrastructure; it’s about preserving and enhancing a vital part of the IIT Delhi experience. For many alumni, hostel life was as pivotal as classroom learning, creating lasting memories and lifelong friendships. Recognizing the importance of this aspect of campus life, the project aims to create inclusive and state-of-the-art living spaces.
