Mr. Abhay Mitra
Mr. Abhay Mitra received his B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2016. He is currently the Co-founder and CEO of Effective AI and a Co-founder of Nirvana Insurance.
His entrepreneurial journey began at IIT Delhi itself, where he co-founded his first startup, a learning app, in his final year. Mr. Mitra began his career as an engineer at Rubrik, where he helped create the industry's first ransomware-recovery product, protecting the critical data infrastructure of companies worldwide, and holds more than fifteen patents. As Co-founder and CTO of Nirvana Insurance, he pioneered telematics-based, safety-linked insurance pricing in the United States, rewarding safer commercial fleets with fairer prices and helping make roads measurably safer. Nirvana raised USD 170 million during his tenure and is today valued at USD 1.5 billion.
At Effective AI, Mr. Mitra is building an AI platform trusted by some of the largest insurance carriers. The platform preserves, specialises and compounds an organisation's institutional knowledge, helping insurers bring better products to more people, faster and at lower cost.
In honouring Mr. Abhay Mitra, IIT Delhi recognises his contributions to Entrepreneurship. Through his achievements, Mr. Mitra has brought glory to the name of the Institute.
