Ms. Padmasree Warrior received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1982 and went on to obtain her MS degree in Chemical Engineering from the Cornell University, USA in 1984.
Ms. Padmasree joined Motorola in 1984 and since then has been with the same company. In a short period of time, she became the Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector. In that role, she was responsible for the Sector’s technology strategy and embedded systems solutions. Later she was given the charge as the Corporate Vice President and General Manager for Motorola’s Energy Systems Group (ESG), as well as the General Manager for Thoughtbeam, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Motorola. At ESG, she was responsible for all aspects of the business, while as General Manager for Thoughtbeam Inc., she evaluated the research efforts relating to compound semiconductor materials for their commercial potential.
Since January 1, 2003, Ms. Padmasree has assumed the office of Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Motorola, Inc. In this role, she is responsible for leading the Motorola Laboratories – the applied research arm for Motorola, the Global Software Group, and the Emerging Early Stage Businesses for this corporation. Her operational responsibilities encompass leadership of a global team of 4600 technologists, technology program prioritization, intellectual property monetarism, early-stage acceleration from innovation to commercialization, influencing standards, and roadmaps. She also acts as a technology advisor to the Office of CEO/COO and Chairman of Board, Motorola Inc.
Ms. Padmasree was one of the six women selected nationwide in the USA to receive the prestigious“Women Elevating Science and Technology (WEST) Award” from Working Woman magazine in June 2001. She has also been recognized for her contributions to technology by the ‘Women In Technology International (WITI)’ organization and received a “Lifetime Honorary Member Award”. In March 2003, she received an “Immigrant Achievement Award” from the American Immigration Law Foundation for her outstanding contributions. As a community leader, she has served on the Texas Governor’s Council for Digital Economy and is a member of the Texas Higher Education Board review panel. She also was on the selection board for White House Fellows in 2001. She is also an outside Director on the Board of Ferro Corporation.
