Mr. Navin Chaddha

Mr. Navin Chaddha received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1992 with Director’s Medal for first position in his class. He was awarded Stanford Graduate and IBM Fellowships to pursue MS and Ph.D. studies at Stanford University and graduated at the top of his class for his MS in Electrical Engineering in 1994 from Stanford.
Mr. Chaddha is currently Managing Director at Gabriel Venture Partners, where he leads investment efforts in India and US.
He started his entrepreneurial career while working on his Ph.D. at Stanford by co-founding VXtreme in 1995, a streaming media software company and served as Chief Technical Officer and Vice President Business Development before its acquisition by Microsoft in 1997 to become Windows Media®. He then worked at Microsoft in various management roles. Mr. Navin also co-founded iBeam Broadcasting in 1997, a content delivery network that went public on NASDAQ in 2000. He then co-founded Rivio in 1999, a small business Application Service Provider and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Rivio was acquired by CPA2Biz in 2001, the leading online portal for CPAs where he served as President and Vice Chairman.
Mr. Chaddha started his venture capital career in 2003. He has been investor in over 25 companies including the following Indian companies: Allsec, IL&FS Investsmart, Makemytrip, Persistent Systems, Provogue and Tejas Networks. He has served on the Board of Directors of over 10 companies.
Mr. Chaddha has been recognised globally as an industry thought leader including “100 Global Leaders for Tomorrow” by the World Economic Forum in 2002, “Next Generation 25 Global Leaders” by Fortune Magazine in 2001, “The Magnetic 40” by Forbes Magazine in 2001, “9 Faces of a New Generation” by the Wall Street Journal in 2000. He is Charter Member of TiE and AAMA and is also the Chairman of IBF VC Investing in India Conference.
He holds 35 patents and has authored 35 papers in technical journals and conferences.
