Prof. Ashish Nanda

Prof. Ashish Nanda received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 1981 with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of a perfect 10. He received his Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1983, followed by AM in Economics and Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard University, USA in 1993.
Prof. Nanda is currently the Director of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA).
Prof. Nanda is affiliated with Harvard University as Executive Education Fellow and teaches in bothHarvard Law School and Harvard Business School Executive Education programs. Before joining IIMA, he was Robert Braucher Professor of Practice at Harvard Law School, where he taught in the JD program and served as Faculty Director of Executive Education Program and Case Development Initiative, and as Research Director in the Program on the Legal Profession. Before that, Prof. Nanda was a faculty member for 13 years in Harvard Business School, where he taught in MBA, DBA, and Executive Education programs. Before going for his Ph.D., he worked for five years with TATA group of companies as Tata Administrative Services Officer.
Prof. Nanda’s research, in the form of conceptual articles, case studies, surveys, and large sample
empirical analyses, focuses on professional services. He has published several case studies and articles in reputed national and international journals, conferences, and workshops. He has advised a number of professional service organizations including law firms, management consulting firms, IT consulting firms, and investment banks.
Prof. Nanda has received several awards and honors.To cite a few, he is a recipient of the Henry B. Arthur Fellowship, President of India Gold Medal (twice), and the IIM, Ahmedabad Director’s Gold Medal.
