Prof. Srinivasan Keshav received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science & Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1986 and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991.
Professor in the Cheriton School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, Prof. Srinivasan Keshav is known for his cutting-edge research in the areas of computer networking and energy informatics. He currently focuses on research in blockchains for transactive energy. He was awarded the Director’s Gold Medal for his undergraduate work at IIT Delhi and was recognized by the David Sakrison Prize for excellence for his doctoral work at UC Berkeley.
He worked at the Bell Labs, Columbia University and Cornell University. In 1998, he co-founded Ensim Corporation and was responsible as the CTO and Director of the company. In 2003, he joined University of Waterloo as Professor in the Cheriton School of Computer Science. He is an ACM and IEEE Fellow; his research work is cited more than 16000 times and has a h-index of 54. He also holds 73 patents issued worldwide. He is co-director of the Information Systems and Science for Energy (ISS4E) Laboratory at the University of Waterloo since 2010. Dr. Keshav authored a textbook on computer networks – An Engineering Approach to Computer Networking and a book – Mathematical Foundations of Computer Networking. He was the Editor of Computer Communication Review from 2008 to 2013 and the Chair of ACM SIGCOMM from 2013 to 2017.
In addition, Dr. Keshav is the co-founder of three startups. He is a recipient of various awards, that includes RSC Fellow in the Applied Sciences and Engineering Division of the Academy of Science, The Royal Society of Canada, Fellow, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 2019, Fellow, Association for Computing Machinery, 2012, Elected Chair of ACM SIGCOMM, 2013-2017, University of Waterloo Outstanding Performance Award 2008, 2013, 2018, Fiona Ip Li ’78 and Donald Li ’75 Excellence in Teaching Award, Cornell University, 1998, Alfred P. Sloan Fellow in Computer Science, 1997-1999.
In honoring Prof. Srinivasan Keshav, IIT Delhi recognizes the outstanding contributions made by him in Teaching and Research. Through his achievements, Prof. Keshav has brought glory to the name of the Institute.
