Dr. Prabu Raja earned a Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from IIT Delhi in 1991 and conducted his post-doctoral research at Ehime University, Japan, and the University of Iowa.
He is President of the Semiconductor Products Group at Applied Materials, the global leader in semiconductor and display materials engineering solutions. Its technology is used to manufacture virtually every new computer chip in the world.
Dr. Raja has transformed the semiconductor industry through technical innovation and leadership. His pioneering work in copper interconnect and metal gate manufacturing has enabled continued semiconductor scaling. As a business leader, his focus on market inflections and long-term growth strategies has kept Applied at the forefront of chip fabrication. He holds 150+ patents, and he is an Applied Fellow and Chip History Center All Star.
He has redefined industry collaboration by building global platforms connecting academia, industry, and government. He additionally drives ecosystem development across nations, contributes to the U.S.-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology, serves on the U.S.-India Business Council Board of Directors, and acts as Industry Advisor to the India Semiconductor Mission.
