Prof. Rajasekhar Balasubramanian
Prof. Rajasekhar Balasubramanian received his M.Tech. in Chemical Instrumentation from IIT Delhi in 1985. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Miami and held research positions at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the New York State Department of Health before joining the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1996. He is a Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NUS, where he holds the Keppel Chair Professorship in Sustainability Solutions.
With over three decades of research experience, Prof. Balasubramanian has established himself as a global authority in atmospheric chemistry, urban air pollution and environmental sustainability. A highly cited researcher, he has authored over 300 scholarly papers and holds several high-level international leadership positions.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Geophysical Union, the Asian Aerosol Research Assembly and The World Academy of Sciences. He received the 2020 PROSE Award for Environmental Sciences from the Association of American Publishers and is a three-time recipient of the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award.
In honouring Prof. Rajasekhar Balasubramanian, IIT Delhi recognises his contributions to Academics and Research. Through his achievements, Prof. Balasubramanian has brought glory to the name of the Institute.
