Dr. Vivek Raghavan
Dr. Vivek Raghavan received his B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1989. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. An entrepreneur, technologist and creator of Digital Public Goods, he is the co-founder of Sarvam AI, where he focuses on developing full-stack Sovereign AI solutions for India.
His work at Sarvam AI includes training a 105-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model released as open-weights, and developing state-of-the-art vision and speech models for Indian languages that power platforms for conversational and agentic AI. Previously, Dr. Raghavan served as Chief Product Manager and Biometric Architect for UIDAI, where he helped scale the technology platform for Aadhaar, the world's largest identity programme. He conceptualised Bhashini, served as Chief Mentor for the Nilekani Centre at AI4Bharat (IIT Madras) and acted as an AI advisor to GSTN, NPCI and the Supreme Court of India.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Raghavan spent two decades in Electronic Design Automation, founding and selling two companies and holding senior leadership roles at Magma Design Automation, Synopsys and Avant Corporation.
In honouring Dr. Vivek Raghavan, IIT Delhi recognises his contributions to Entrepreneurship. Through his achievements, Dr. Raghavan has brought glory to the name of the Institute.
