Ambassador Sunjay Sudhir

Ambassador Sunjay Sudhir has earned his B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1989. He is also an alumnus of the University of Oxford, UK, and holds multiple qualifications in the fields of international trade, intellectual property rights, and energy.
Amb. Sudhir is a distinguished Indian diplomat who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1993 and currently serves as the Ambassador of India to the United Arab Emirates.
During his diplomatic career, he has held several key assignments, including Ambassador of India to the Maldives, and has served in Indian Missions in Australia, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Syria, and Egypt. He also served at the Indian Mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva.
At the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, while heading the International Cooperation Division, he served as a director on the boards of several energy companies, including ONGC Videsh Ltd. and Oil India Ltd. He has also served as Chief of Staff to the External Affairs Minister of India.
He played a pioneering role in establishing IIT Delhi’s first international campus in Abu Dhabi — a milestone in expanding the institute’s global presence.
In honoring Amb. Sunjay Sudhir, IIT Delhi recognizes his contributions in Development and Progress of the Institute. Through his achievements, he has brought glory to the name of the Institute.
