Pratibha Verma secured AIR 3 in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2019

Pratibha Verma, an IIT Delhi alumnus from 2014 batch, has secured All India Rank 3 in the civil services examination 2019 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and topped among women. “Last year I got 489th rank. I quickly realised the mistakes I made there. I worked hard on my weakness. Started writing well rounded answers. And also the past experiences helped.” Pratibha Verma said.

Pratibha hails from the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Her father Mr. Suvansh Verma is a retired Principal and mother Ms. Usha Verma is a primary school teacher. In the year 2008, she secured the third rank in UP in the high school examination. After her success, she did not look back again. She topped the district in the Inter examination from the city’s KNIC School. After 12th, Pratibha cracked the IIT-JEE entrance test and got admitted to IIT Delhi for a B.Tech degree in Engineering Physics and this was her reason for opting Physics as her optional subject. She worked in Vodafone for two years and after that, she came to Delhi for the IAS preparation. Her friends helped her in starting the preparation for IAS.

“I was inspired by the way IAS officers act as the first responder at the time of any crisis. They are always on the frontline at the time of a difficult situation. That is why I decided to prepare again for the exam (after getting selected in the IRS),” she said. “I would like to work for women empowerment and children-related issues, especially in my home state Uttar Pradesh,” she added.
