New IIT Building at R.K. Puram

The institute is currently going through some serious challenges and one among them is a serious scarcity of space to carry out its academic and other activities. The institute is currently unable to provide hostel facilities to many of the students, transit housing for new faculty, accommodation for international scholars/visitors and married students on campus.

Recently, the Indian Government has given 2.3 acres of land in RK Puram which is at a walkable distance from the Jwalamukhi hostel. The land has been given to IIT Delhi with the condition that construction activities need to be completed in the next 20 months. A part of this land is ready for new construction and the institute is planning to come up with a housing with studio type of apartments. The cost of this project is about Rs 100 crores (construction and a small corpus for maintenance).

As this is an urgent project, the institute is launching a fundraising campaign to garner financial resources for this new construction. The Institute invites donations from Alumni, Corporates, or Philanthropic entities with an option of naming rights.
