IIT Delhi collaborates with the Government to Advance Rural Development Using AI and Geospatial Tech
Aiming to leverage technology for rural development, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has joined hands with the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) through a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The partnership aims to spearhead research and development initiatives in artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial technology, with a focus on enhancing the operational efficiency and transparency of projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The MoU signing ceremony, attended by Joint Secretary of MoRD, Amit Kataria, and Prof. Manabendra Saharia, also saw the presence of Secretary of MoRD, Shailesh Kumar Singh, and Director of IIT Delhi, Prof. Rangan Banerjee.
