IIT Delhi Leads in Producing Founders of India’s Most Valuable Startups

A recent study by Hurun India and IDFC First Bank reveals that IIT Delhi stands out as a powerhouse for entrepreneurship, with 36 founders from its alumni community leading some of India’s 200 most valuable companies started after the year 2000. This impressive number puts IIT Delhi at the forefront, surpassing other IITs such as IIT Bombay (20 founders) and IIT Kharagpur (19 founders).

Prominent IIT Delhi alumni include startup icons Sachin and Binny Bansal, co-founders of Flipkart, and Deepinder Goyal, co-founder and CEO of Zomato, who ranks second on the list of influential entrepreneurs.

Collectively, startups founded by IITians on this prestigious list boast a combined valuation of approximately Rs 20 lakh crore, underscoring the transformative impact of IIT Delhi and its peers on India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
