DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence

The DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) was established a few years back to promote research and indigenization of defence products. IIT Delhi hosted DIA-GARIMA (Global Approach to Readiness of Indigenous Military Applications) at IIT Delhi on December 19, 2024. The event witnessed the signing of 10 tripartite agreements among DRDO, IIT Delhi, and industry partners to advance indigenous defense technologies. Some of the technologies transferred to industry include:

● Lightweight Bullet Resistant Jackets: Technology transfer to MIDHANI (Rohtak), SMPP Pvt Ltd (Delhi), and AR Polymers (Kanpur) for advanced ballistic  protection.
● Ballistic Materials Development: Memorandum of Agreement with Reliance Industries Ltd. to enhance self-reliance in defense-grade materials.
● Extreme Cold Weather Clothing: Agreements with Aeronav Industrial Safety Appliance (Delhi), Arnaf Industries, and Arrow Garments (Tirupur) for limited series production.
● Extreme Heat Protective Clothing: Small series production Memorandum of Agreement with Arrow Garments, Aeronav Industrial Safety Appliance, and Katalyst TECHTEX Ltd.
Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh who attended the event lauded the collaborative efforts.
